Chicago – WYCC PBS Chicago and Buddy Guy’s Legends have teamed up to bring television viewing audiences a one of a kind blues experience with an electric concert series.

“Buddy Guy’s Legends Presents the Chicago Blues” airs on WYCC PBS Chicago on Fridays from 9 p.m.-10 p.m.  The series captures the rich history of Chicago blues from the premier venue, still owned and operated for the past 25 years by the multi Grammy award-winning George “Buddy” Guy, with soulful performances by some of today’s most notable musicians who have inspired the sound known as the Chicago blues.

The performances were taped in an intimate setting before a live audience at Buddy Guy’s Legends in the heart of downtown Chicago.  Viewers will experience dynamic music performances as well as interviews, history, and rare profiles of the artists as they share their personal journeys and their passionate connection with blues music.

WYCC PBS Chicago features a front row seat to performances featuring Eddie Shaw, Eric “Guitar” Davis, Joanna Connor, Corey Dennison, Linsey Alexander, Nellie Travis, Chicago Blues All Stars, Joanna Shaw Taylor, Mike Wheeler, Quinn Sullivan, Nu Blu Band (featuring Carlise Guy, Buddy Guy’s daughter) and Buddy Guy himself.Buddy Guy’s Legends Presents the Chicago Blues highlights some of the leading local, national and international blues artists that have traveled to Chicago to perform as part of Buddy Guy’s legacy, showcasing a wide range of blues performances in front of enthusiastic and welcoming Chicago audiences. Each dynamic performance signifies why Chicago is truly the “Home of the Blues” with well-known bands and artists providing electric, high-energy blues performances.

Buddy Guy’s Legends Presents the Chicago Blues and the recent two-hour production of WYCC Presents a Special Evening with Buddy Guy, further highlight WYCC as a leading local broadcaster capturing a broad scope of Chicago’s rich music history and performance art for television audiences. In recent years, WYCC has produced Musicology, a 12-part series featuring an eclectic lineup of international artists including work with the Chicago Sinfonietta for the Emmy Award-winning special, Sounds of Diversity and eMotion, an unprecedented fusion of classical music and hip-hop dance performance.
