A bright sunny Saturday afternoon provided the backdrop for a great start to the Chicago Defender Bud Billiken« King and Queen Contest. Dozens of children and their parents stopped by the Chicago Defender offices at 4445 S. King Drive to learn more about and register to participate in the contest. In addition to the important business of learning how to become royalty, there was face painting, balloon creating and a fantastic performance by the House-O-Matics youth dance organization.
A special thank you goes out Dominick’s Finer Foods for hot dogs with all the trimmings, chips and beverages; and to JGJ Management LLC-Pizza Hut for pizza. By all accounts, a good time was had by all.
If you did not make it to the Chicago Defender on Saturday, don’t worry there is still time to register for the contest and compete for a chance to be in the Royal Court of the 83rd Annual Bud BillikenĀ« Day Parade. Plus, the King and Queen win the Grand Prize – a family vacation to Walt DisneyĀ« World in Orlando, Florida. Don’t delay. Register for the Chicago Defender King and Queen Contest today. The Bud Billiken Parade is produced by the Chicago Defender Charities.
