BREAKTHROUGH BEGINNERS RECEIVES GOLD CIRCLE OF QUALITY

Breakthrough Beginners received the Gold Circle of Quality designation
from ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s quality recognition and improvement system for early learning and
development providers.
Breakthrough Beginners equips young learners, ages 2 to 5, with the education and skills necessary for
success in kindergarten and beyond. In addition to providing instruction in core areas, the program
develops emergent skills that are essential to reading and writing, as well as uses creative and hands-on
activities that correspond to the Illinois Learning and Development Standards.
Core to Breakthrough Beginners is partnering with parents to ensure children meet cognitive, social,
and physical milestones. When children transition to kindergarten, Breakthrough emphasizes a
smooth transition through parent education of local school options, collaboration with local schools,
and continued support in Breakthrough’s K-8 after school program.
ExceleRate Illinois, through their comprehensive program, helps parents make more informed choices
about their children’s learning, establishes standards for child development, and provides a framework for
early learning professionals. The Gold Circle of Quality, the highest level of accreditation designated by
the program, recognizes the early learning providers that meet or go beyond the highest quality goals.
“We are proud to receive the Gold Circle of Quality,” said Lisa Gwin, Breakthrough Director of Early
Childhood Education. “Providing quality in early learning and development will help our children in East
Garfield Park be better prepared for success in school and in life.”
Breakthrough Beginners is excited to be recognized by ExceleRate Illinois with the Gold Circle of
Quality and to continue to provide East Garfield Park families with leading early childhood education
opportunities.
