Boys, 12 and 14, Shot in Roseland Neighborhood

Crime Scene Revised

Two boys, 12 and 14, were shot in the Roseland neighborhood when a gunman stepped from a gangway and opened fire, police said.

Both were in serious condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center with wounds to the abdomen, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The two were on the corner of the 108th Street and Eggleston Avenue about 5:25 p.m. Thursday when three people emerged from a gangway and at least one opened fire, police said. One of the two victims lives nearby.

It’s not clear what prompted the shooting.

Also Thursday, an 18-year-old man was shot in the 7100 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue. He was on a sidewalk when three people approached on foot and one opened fire, striking him in the hand, police said.

He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center by a relative. The man told police his attackers fled west on 71st Street.
