It’s the season of giving!

The women of Phi Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and the men of Omicron Mu Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated have partnered together to provide a Christmas party and toys to children serviced by the Marillac Social Center. The private event will take place tomorrow, Dec. 14, at the Marillac Social Center.

Through the Angel Tree and Toys for Tots programs, the historical organizations will deliver Christmas wishes to children who have incarcerated parents. The Angel Tree event is led by Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Phi Kappa Omega chapter and they will provide gifts on behalf of incarcerated parents to their children between the ages of one to 18.

Michelle McClendon, Vice President of  Phi Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, is ecstatic about the event.

“The Angel Tree organization is one of our national program partners and we’re both dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus Christ to children with incarcerated parents,” she said excitedly. “We want to make sure that they do not go without gifts this holiday season.”

The Omicron Mu Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, will lead the Toys for Tots gift giveaway, where 1,500 toys will be given to children who benefit from the Marillac Social Center’s services. Sixty-five families will receive gifts donated by both organizations.
The children will also participate in a party with activities that include face painting, ornament decorating, a small snack, and pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause.
