Mayors from cities all around the world were in Chicago Monday for the 5th Annual Richard J. Daley Urban Forum, held at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mayors from cities all around the world were in Chicago Monday for the 5th Annual Richard J. Daley Urban Forum, held at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mayor Richard M. Daley also participated in the event.

During a plenary session and a town hall meeting, leaders revealed how the soured world economy has affected their respective metropolis and what they’ve done in response to it.

While tourism reportedly continues to keep cities like Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in the black, other metropolitan areas, like Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland, and Medellin in Colombia, have been hit hard and have been wracked by high unemployment.

Vice President Joe Biden delivered the keynote address for the forum themed "Global Economic Recovery: Cities Lead the Way."
