If rock bottom had a rock bottom, the Chicago Bears would likely be there. The team dropped their 10th straight game when they lost at home to the Seattle Seahawks by a baseball score of 6-3 in front of a national audience tuned into Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football.
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams got pummeled once again. The team’s sieve of an offensive line surrendered seven sacks to a marauding, opportunistic Seahawks defense. But that’s only part of the story.
The Bears’ defense turned in a strong effort, holding Seattle’s explosive offense to a paltry 265 yards total and limiting vaunted pass catchers DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba to 42 and 32 yards, respectively.
But Bear’s offense was (once again) in hibernation, faring far worse than their opponent by mustering just 179 total yards.
While running back D’Andre Swift tallied 53 yards on 12 carries and receiver DJ Moore notched 54 yards on six receptions, no other offensive player made a meaningful contribution.
Even more alarming is that tight end Cole Kmet, who signed a four-year, $50 million contract with Chicago in 2023, did not receive a single target all game.
And besides getting obliterated by the Seahawks pass rushers, Williams looked overwhelmed. He connected on just 16 of 28 passes for just 122 yards with a quarterback rating of 24.4.
Still, Williams had a chance to send the game to overtime, at least.
He drove the Bears offense down the field, trailing 6-3 with a game-tying field goal try or a go-ahead touchdown in his sights.
But on 4th down with 20 seconds left, Williams attempted to evade Seattle’s blitz before lofting a pass in the direction of Keenan Allen. That’s when Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen leaped over him and picked the ball out of the air for a game-sealing interception.

While Chicago is in the market for a new head coach to replace interim coach Thomas Brown, Bears fans made their feelings about the club known during and after the game.
Repeated “Sell the Team” chants could be heard over the Amazon Prime broadcast.

With this latest loss, the Bears dropped to 4-12 after starting the season 4-2. They play the rival Green Bay Packers on Jan. 5 to mercifully end the season.
