Be U: Mary Mary gospel duo pens new book

Erica and Tina Campbell, the Grammy Award-winning popular sister duo known as Mary Mary just released their debut book entitled Be U: Be Honest, Be Beautiful, Be Intentional, Be Strong, Be You!

Erica and Tina Campbell, the Grammy Award-winning popular sister duo known as Mary Mary just released their debut book entitled Be U: Be Honest, Be Beautiful, Be Intentional, Be Strong, Be You! The book is about life principles based on lyrics from their popular songs. They used the “Be U” slogan to inspire and encourage teenage girls with words of empowerment. “Be you is our mission statement for life, it keeps us focused on authenticity and truth, and keeps us honest: honest to God and honest to ourselves,” the Campbells said. “God didn’t make a mistake when He created you, so you should accept who you are and what you are and live on purpose and not by accident.”

The sisters also share testimonies from their songs including the premature birth of Tina’s daughter and the diagnosis and treatment of Erica’s husband’s kidney cancer.

“I definitely feel privileged to have been brought up in a Christian family,” said Erica, the older sister of the two. “Our mom used to say it is better to be saved from things rather than to be saved out of things. A lot of what our parents taught us kept us from living like we were completely out of control, although we weren’t perfect.”

The executive producers of the weekly series, Sunday Best! are also expanding their brand to include bath products and candles called Be U by Mary Mary and a clothing line for young women and teens called Be U Collection.

Speaking of Sunday Best, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, who replaced Bebe Winans as a celebrity judge on the show, was in the Windy City last week. The Verity Gospel recording artist and minister was the keynote speaker during the annual bible conference at the Apostolic Church of God. McClurkin is the pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York.

Just in case you’re wondering whatever happened to Keith Pringle…well, he’s back on the scene. After more than 25 years on hiatus, Pringle recently released a powerful ballad entitled Merciful Eyes. He is scheduled to make several appearances in Chicago in early June of this year. Pringle admits that he succumbed to an addiction with alcohol and drugs, after a successful solo career in the 80s. The singer’s hit songs include Call Him Up, Perfect Peace and With My Whole Heart. Happy birthday to Grammy Award-winning singer and composer, Pastor Darius Brooks.

“Remember you are blessed by the best!”
