Baptist convention starts next month in KC

The convention of the country’s largest black denomination will get under way next month in downtown Kansas City.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The convention of the country’s largest black denomination will get under way next month in downtown Kansas City. The gathering of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A. Inc. will run from Sept. 6-10 at the downtown Convention Center. The Kansas City Star reports that about 30,000 delegates and visitors are expected to attend. The theme is "Solidarity With the Savior." The event will include musical performances and sessions on challenges facing black churches. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press.
