Back 2 School Illinois Surprises Two Schools with Free Supplies for Every Student

Back 2 School Illinois (B2SI) is pleased to announce the launch of this year’s “Win School Supplies for an Entire School” contest, which grants free school supplies to two Chicago schools. Each and every child at the winning schools receive their own B2SI kit loaded with the core supplies they need for the year.

Back 2 School Illinois is a Chicago-based nonprofit that annually provides tens of thousands of deserving kids from low-income families with free school supplies.

In order to qualify for the 2019 contest, online applications must be submitted by no later than August 1 to be considered. Applications mailed in must be sent to 3959 N Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL 60613.

Anyone can nominate a Chicago school and there is no limit to how many times a school can be nominated in a given year. Whether you are a parent, community leader, concerned citizen, student or member of the faculty, you can enter the contest on behalf of your desired school. The two winning Chicago schools will be selected over the summer and notified by August 10. During the first week of classes this fall, the student bodies of both winning schools will be surprised with the delivery of free school supply kits.

While most students strive for success in the classroom, it can sometimes prove difficult when they don’t have the necessary school supplies. With B2SI’s contest, underserved Chicago students from two lucky schools are given the tools they need to thrive in the classroom. Providing these kits lets the students know they deserve a good education.

Matthew Kurtzman is chief executive officer of Back 2 School Illinois.

“There are over 1.2 million students in Illinois living in low income households. Last year alone, B2SI provided more than 1 million school supplies to these students,” says Kurtzman. “Continuing programs such as the yearly contest allows B2SI to provide more than 1,000 students with the supplies to begin their school year motivated and prepared.”

To date, more than 6.8 million school supplies have been given to deserving children to ensure their academic careers are on a path to success. However, B2SI works to provide students with more than just supplies; they provide tools that help instill a sense of ease and confidence as students walk into school.
