EL CERRITO, Calif. — Authorities are investigating the death of a four-month-old boy found unconscious after his father left him in a car outside a California transit station. Authorities say Everett Carey’s father normally would leave him at day care in the morning before driving to the Bay Area Rapid Transit station in El Cerrito. When the boy’s mother learned he never showed up Monday, she went to the station and found Everett. By then, it was late afternoon. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. Authorities say it’s too early to say whether the father could face prosecution. The names of the parents were not released. Temperatures were in the high 60s or low 70s, still high enough to pose a hyperthermia risk to young children inside vehicles. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
