CHICAGO (AP) — Federal and local authorities say they’ve arrested 23 people in and around Chicago and seized more than 60 guns they say undercover officers purchased from them. The arrests were made this week, with the defendants charged with various state and federal weapons and drug violations. Four of the suspects were charged with conspiracy to possess cocaine after undercover officers convinced them there were drugs hidden in a house that, it turns out, did not exist. The investigation by Chicago police officers and FBI agents included the purchase from the suspects of weapons that they themselves had purchased in Wisconsin, Indiana and other Midwestern states, and in Europe and South America. Officials say three more suspects are still being sought. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. Photo Caption: An engraved Colt Python is displayed at the Chicago FBI offices on July 22.
