Hosted by Platinum Public Strategies, the annual Black Girl Magic! High Tea, took place on Saturday, March 7th, in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. With this year's theme being, "An Equal World is an Enabled World," they honored African American women and the work that they have done to advance the state of Illinois.
Armed with both a passion for singing and all things creative, and the spirit of servant leadership, Robbins, IL native, Jeremy “Vessel” Holmes, has found a way to fuse his musical background with marketing. And what started as what some might call a hobby, quickly turned into a career path for Jeremy that would take him from behind the microphone, to a seat at the table that he would build, which he hopes will, in turn, create a long-lasting legacy.

In partnership with Nike, SAP, State Farm, and City Year, more than 400 volunteers from both Chicago, as well as out of town had the opportunity to volunteer alongside some of their favorite NBA and WNBA players from past and present at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, located on the city's west side. Broken up into five different areas, volunteers all took turns sorting, packing, and repacking food and school items, all to later be distributed to individuals throughout the city.
Avery "Kidd" Waddell's feature directorial debut, "Questions", centers on the film's main character, Omar, and his search to learn what women want. The romantic comedy, also starring Waddell, was part of the South Side Film Festival’s 2020 Black History Month Series. A special screening of the film was held Friday, February 7, at Chicago’s Studio Movie Grill.
A group of friends in Los Angeles decided to assemble and distribute lunches to the homeless and post about it on social media. Eight years later, #Hastaglunchbag is a flourishing grassroots movement happening in cities around the country. In August of 2013, the Chicago chapter of #Hashtaglunchbag was born.
The 30th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Breakfast, hosted by PUSH Excel, took place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago Hotel on Monday. This year's theme was "Breaking the Cycle of Poverty through Educational Equity and Economic Investment."
Known as the most massive single-day blood drive in the nation, the 6th Annual Great Chicago Blood Drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, surpassed their goal of 1,500 units from over 2,000 donors. Taking place in four different locations across the city, surrounding suburbs, and Indiana, Chicagoland and Indiana residents took time out of their day to donate blood and Power Red to someone who needs it most.
