In a powerful show of solidarity, pastors and community leaders are coming together to support New Inspirational Baptist Church in the Austin neighborhood as they seek to raise $55,000 to repair their church roof. Founded over 40 years ago by Bishop Andrew Griffin, the church has been a beacon of hope and a lifeline for the community, providing feeding programs for the homeless and seniors, disaster relief assistance, and emotional counseling to those in need.

Pastor Griffin, who has led the church since its inception, said, “We’ve done all we can with patchwork, but now we need the community’s help to save this sanctuary.”

To kick off the fundraising efforts, a benefit program will be held on Sunday, May 18th at 3:00 PM at New Inspirational Baptist Church, 5825 W. Division Street, Chicago. Community pastors leading the charge include Pastor Ira Acree of Greater St. John Bible Church and the Leaders Network, Pastor Contrell Jenkins of Lively Stone, Pastor Chris Ferguson of Greater St. Stephenson Baptist Church, and Pastor Darrell McClay Jr. of New Fellowship Baptist Church.

Despite recently facing significant losses from vandalism, Pastor Jenkins remains committed to the cause. “Even in my own struggle, I can’t forget Pastor Griffin and the work he’s done. This is what the faith community is about—lifting each other up,” said Jenkins.

Leaders Network Financial and Great Lakes Credit Union will present donations to support the roof repair. U.S. Congressman Danny Davis and Alderman Chris Taliaferro will also attend to lend their voices and support.

A Church with a Mega Impact New Inspirational Baptist Church has made a “mega impact” despite its modest size. “Pastor Griffin and his church have helped thousands of people over the years,” said Rev. Ira Acree, the church’s media consultant pro bono. “They have paid rent for struggling residents and forgiven past-due rent for financially burdened members.”
