CHICAGOûAn attorney who represented R. Kelly at the singer’s child pornography trial says he never met the prosecution’s star witness when she allegedly received a cash payment for a sex tape.

Ed Genson pointed to previously sealed transcripts where witness Lisa Van Allen retracts an earlier statement that she’d met with the top criminal lawyer. In documents unsealed earlier this week, Van Allen claimed she received $100,000 last year from a Kelly associate for the tape and that she’d met Genson shortly after one payment. But she told the court in a closed hearing before the trial started in May that she’d been mistaken. Genson even stood up and she told the judge it wasn’t him she’d met. The judge added there’d been "no potential conflicts" involving Genson. A jury acquitted Kelly last week. (AP) ______ Copyright 2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
