Aréanah Preston will be laid to rest.
A wake for the fallen Chicago police officer will take place this afternoon, followed by her funeral, which will occur Wednesday morning.
Visitation:
The visitation will occur today from 3-8 p.m. at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home at 4727 W. 103rd St. in Oak Lawn.
Funeral:
Preston’s funeral is Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ at 400 W. 95th St. in Chicago.
Earlier this month, Preston was shot and killed in a robbery attempt in front of her family home after returning from a work shift. Chicago police have arrested and charged four teens with first-degree murder.
Preston was scheduled to graduate with her Masters in Jurisprudence from Loyola University Chicago on Saturday. Instead, her mother accepted her degree on her behalf.
Our fallen hero Officer Aréanah M. Preston should have been walking across the stage to celebrate receiving a Masters in Jurisprudence from @LoyolaChicago this morning. Heartbreakingly, Officer Preston’s mother was asked to stand in her honor. pic.twitter.com/qVWW4ukUls
