On Thursday, September 19, 75 Chicago-area Aramark team members volunteered at Sherwood Elementary School, bringing health and wellness education to students and transforming the outside areas into a health and wellness hub. These volunteers joined more than 12,000 Aramarkteam members, in 15 counties, who are also volunteering at 350 service projects across the globe, during Aramark’s annual day of community service, Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day).

“Every year, thousands of Aramark team members come together to volunteer their time and talent in the communities where they live and work on Aramark Building Community Day,” said Keith Bethel, Aramark’s Chief Customer Officer. “Today, we’re excited to have 75 team members at Sherwood Elementary School, who are teaching students about healthy living, creating amazing learning spaces outside and achieving our goal of creating long-lasting impact here in Chicago.”

“Sherwood sees community involvement as a powerful tool to help our school continue to be a cornerstone for Englewood students and families,” said Sherwood Principal Alice Buzanis. “With the school year just getting started, we are excited to come together and focus on nurturing a strong and engaged school community.”

Aramark volunteers will participate in the following volunteer projects:

ABC Day supports Aramark’s Healthy for Life® commitment to improve the health of Americans, and Aramark’s Feed Your Potential 365 public health and well-being campaign, promoting healthy lifestyles.
