Sunday, Jackson will celebrate 51 years in gospel music and being a musician.
“It was the Creator who got me through and gave me so many opportunities,” Jackson told the Defender, as he prepared for a grand gospel musical celebration with the Logos Men’s Choir at the Logos Baptist Assembly church, 10833 S. Halsted St.
“He said, ‘I will never leave you’ and he didn’t,” Jackson said of his faith in God.
In addition to the Logos Men’s Choir, many special guest soloists and choirs will join Jackson and Logos Pastor Donald L. Parson.
At an early age, Jackson was declared an exceptional musician by many people, including the late Mahalia Jackson. As he traveled with her, Andrew became interested in gospel music. He gained popularity by singing at churches throughout Chicago and in other cities.
