Alderwoman Stephanie Coleman Chosen as Chicago Aldermanic Black Caucus Chair

Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderwoman of Chicago’s 16th Ward, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Chicago Aldermanic Black Caucus. This significant appointment comes as recognition of Coleman’s dedication to the community, her advocacy for a fair and balanced Chicago, and her deep appreciation of history.

In a majority vote, Coleman secured a four-year term, receiving the support and confidence of her fellow African American Aldermen. Expressing her gratitude, Alderwoman Coleman stated, “I am grateful, honored, and blessed to have been chosen by my peers for this new journey, which will contribute to the progress of our collective endeavors within the Chicago City Council. This new chapter aligns with the vision of a ‘Better Chicago’ advocated by our new Mayor.”

Just last week, Alderwoman Coleman was unanimously elected by the full Chicago City Council as the Assistant President Pro-tempore, further highlighting her influential position and the recognition of her achievements. Bishop Larry Trotter of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church of Chicago commended Alderwoman Coleman, saying, “These appointments speak volumes about the hard work and consistent progress she has achieved in the Englewood area. Her dedication has generated enthusiasm throughout the 16th ward and beyond. Through her efforts, she has brought housing, economic development, access to quality healthcare, and a plethora of engaging activities for all Chicagoans. Englewood has transformed into a destination point.”
