A former aide to convicted Chicago Alderman Arenda Troutman has been sentenced to three years in prison for mail fraud. A judge sentenced Steven Boone on Thursday. He was convicted last year for helping Troutman shake down developers trying to do projects in her ward. He had been also been convicted of making false statements to federal agents. Troutman was sentenced last month to four years in prison for taking campaign money and thousands of dollars from developers who wanted zoning changes, among other favors. Troutman was a 17-year veteran of the Chicago City Council. She pleaded guilty last August to mail fraud and tax fraud charges. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
