A number of African American standouts have been tapped by Obama to be a part of his administration.

Obama confidant and special family friend Valerie Jarrett was immediately named senior White House adviser. Susan Rice, who served as a foreign policy adviser to Obama during his presidential campaign, was picked to be the U.N. Ambassador, while Rob Nabors was named Deputy Budget Director designate.

Last week, veteran Washington attorney and former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder was selected to be the Obama nominee for Attorney General. And this week, Melody Barnes was tapped for the President-elects economic team, while Chicago businesswoman Desiree Rogers was picked to be the White House social secretary.
