Over the weekend at a private engagement held at The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation Headquarters, Adidas and Track & Field trailblazer, Jackie Joyner-Kersee gathered friends & family for an intimate mural unveiling for the launch of the Honoring Black Excellence initiative. The year-round Three Stripe mission is to recognize and celebrate the history of extraordinary Black leaders who are here with us right now, driving change for today and a better tomorrow.
“It was an honor to be a part of Adidas Honoring Black Excellence. The mural is a wonderful reflection of the philanthropic work I’ve done and will continue to do in my community. I truly believe that Black Excellence is embedded in each and every one of the smiling, innocent faces
I am blessed to see this on a daily basis. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to remind our students to dare to dream and believe in themselves. I often say, ‘you can turn a doubter into a believer if you just believe.’” Jackie Joyner-Kersee
Following the event, attendees received a commemorative zine dedicated to Joyner-Kersee’s life work on-and-off the track with stories of her rise, archival images, and inspirational quotes.
