With an earlier return date for the start of the 2025-26 school year, many families could use a little assistance getting their youth ready for the first day. On Sunday, August 17, community violence intervention leader Acclivus (ak·luh·vus), Inc. will provide youth, ages 5–17, with free haircuts, hairstyling, backpacks and school supplies at seven barbershops and salons.
Hosted in partnership with 3rd Ward Alderman Pat Dowell and State Senator Mattie Hunter, the Acclivus Back to School Party is designed to alleviate some of the financial burden from households managing already strained budgets and give a confidence boost to young people as they embark on the first day of school.
