ABC 7’S WINDY CITY LIVE RETURNS WITH HALF-HOUR NEW CONTENT TUESDAY, APRIL 28 AT 1PM; BLACK-ISH ACTOR DEON COLE FIRST GUEST

WINDY CITY LIVE, ABC 7’s popular talk and entertainment show will return with a half-hour of new content from 1-1:30 PM beginning Tuesday, April 28. Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini will host the show remotely, kicking it off with their signature “Host Chat” segment. They will be joined by WCL regular contributor and WGN radio personality, Roe Conn. The second half of WCL will feature favorite encore moments from past seasons and will air from 1:30-2:00 PM. Plans for the return of a live studio audience have not yet been determined.

Chicago native and star of ABC’s hit series black-ish, Deon Cole, will be WINDY CITY LIVE’s first new guest since the show stopped production on Friday, March 13.

“We are certainly excited to re-connect with our viewers in this new normal. I think this has made everybody appreciate the little things in life a lot more, and how fast it can be taken away,” said Ryan Chiaverini. “Since we will be broadcasting from our living rooms maybe I should play the WCL theme song on my guitar a la “Wayne’s World.” (I’ll ask Val if she wants to be Wayne or Garth).”

Val Warner said, “It’s been fun connecting with viewers from our social media platforms while we have been off the air, but it’s going to be great to be back to business as usual–well as close to it as we can.  Getting a break from homeschooling, lunch lady, and gym teacher duties is going to be a welcomed relief. I miss the good old days. Hopefully, one day soon we will even be able to reconnect with our studio audience.”

In the upcoming weeks, WINDY CITY LIVE has an exciting roster of guests planned to inform and entertain Chicagoans including actress and star of INSECURE, Christina Elmore; ABC 7’s Sports anchors Mark Giangreco and Jim Rose, talking about ESPN’s THE LAST DANCE and what it was like covering the basketball legend Michael Jordan; Dillon Passage, star of the hot Netflix series, TIGER KING and Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who will be making her first appearance on the show.

Each week, Film Critic Richard Roeper returns with films and TV series that are available on streaming platforms for all of us stuck at home.
