A message from Defender president

As we come to the end of another challenging year at the Defender and in our country, I wish to thank all of the readers, advertisers and community leaders for their support throughout 2010.

As we come to the end of another challenging year at the Defender and in our country, I wish to thank all of the readers, advertisers and community leaders for their support throughout 2010.

We are blessed to have a group of professional journalists and support staff that has proudly continued the legacy of the 105-year-old Chicago Defender. The award-winning Chicago Defender newspaper continues to provide relevant news content and information of importance to the African American community throughout the Chicagoland area.

The Defender celebrated in 2010: Black History Month, Men of Excellence, Women of Excellence, First Ladies of local churches, the year’s Newsmakers, Bud Biliken and the 105th anniversary of the newspaper.

We printed special editions on health, education, finance and business, diversity, Black music, automotives and travel. We will continue in 2011 to provide our community with the best information and content presented in a professional and appealing format.

I solicit your support and comments as we look forward to a happy, prosperous and safe holiday season for you and your family.

Best wishes.
