Lynn Hamilton, the beloved actress best known for playing Donna on Sanford and Son, has died. She was 95.
Hamilton passed away Thursday at her home in Chicago, surrounded by her grandchildren, loved ones, and caregivers, according to her former manager and publicist, Rev. Dr. Calvin Carson.
Hamilton had a long and memorable career in television, film, and theater. In addition to Sanford and Son, she appeared in The Waltons, Roots: The Next Generation, Lady Sings the Blues, A Dream for Christmas, The Jesse Owens Story, and Generations.
“Her illustrious career, spanning over five decades, has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment, motivating audiences across the globe through her work as a model, stage, film, and television actress,” Carson said. “Her passing marks the end of an era, but her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift future generations.”

Hamilton also received an NAACP Award, which Carson described as “a testament to her outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.”
She often worked with her husband, Frank S. Jenkins, on theater productions. Together, they created acclaimed plays like Nobody and The Bert Williams Story.
“Their partnership was a shining example of creativity, love, and dedication,” Carson said.
