Darren E. Bryant, Mayor of Robbins, Illinois, was sworn into office after achieving a massive re-election victory during the April 1 General Election. Mayor Bryant garnered nearly 80% of the vote against outgoing Trustee Tiffany Robinson.
Four years ago, Mayor Bryant was dubbed the youngest mayor in America. But the progress to which Mayor Bryant performed was that of an elder statesman with extensive experience in government and politics. From the $40 million MWRD project to the new
restaurants and the enormous demolition projects, Mayor Bryant has created real progress for the Village of Robbins.
In 2023, Mayor Bryant was honored by a local organization as the “Mayor of the Year.” Mayor Bryant has advocated for the Village of Robbins in a spirit of excellence and firm aggression. In 2024 he welcomed Illinois Governor Pritzker, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and other elected officials to visit Robbins as they celebrated the ribbon cutting of the ever-popular MWRD project that is situated alongside the Calumet River. Thousands have now traveled to Robbins to witness the beauty and efficiency of the project.
In addition, the mayor lured the first restaurant, Harold’s Chicken Dining, into Robbins in over a decade. Now, residents from other communities are traveling to Robbins as one of their respective destination locations.
“Mayor Bryant was not only well deserving of being honored as Mayor of the Year but was equally deserving of his re-election victory which he won convincingly. He has restored life back into Robbins as well as a growing infrastructure that will lure more businesses,” says Cook County Commissioner Kisha McCaskill.
“Mayor Bryant has been relentless in his quest to provide a best-in-class atmosphere within the Village. The daily operations of the Village are performing at an elevated level to, which is due to his firm but sensitive demands he has on his staff. He is truly a remarkable administrator who has given new meaning and hope to the Cook County Democratic Party,” says Illinois State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin.
Mayor Bryant was sworn into office by the honorable Justice Nathaniel R. Howse Jr. The Village Clerk, Sharon S. Dyson, was also sworn into office. In addition, Trustee Michael D. Collier Sr. was sworn into his second term. Newly elected Trustees Chanel E. Kelly and Jeaneen A. Holmes were also sworn in.
Rich Township Supervisor Calvin Jordan adds,” I love what Mayor Bryant has accomplished and how he continues to advocate for Robbins. He has a keen sense of how municipal government should operate and has really coalesced some wonderful talent throughout his administration.”
