Bishop T.D. Jakes announced Sunday that Pastors Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts will become the next senior pastors of The Potter’s House in Dallas, ushering in a new era for the global ministry he founded nearly three decades ago.

Their official appointment is set for later this year, marking a historic generational handoff. Jakes, who has led the church to international prominence, said this transition is not a departure but an expansion of the church’s mission.

“For nearly 50 years, I’ve had the honor of connecting with and serving the local and global community as a pastor, global faith leader and unwavering truth teller,” Jakes said. “Leadership is not static, it is dynamic. It demands the courage to evolve.”

The announcement comes after a period of reflection and transition for Jakes, who experienced a health emergency in November 2024 and recently held his final International Leadership Summit, themed “Changing of the Guard.”

Jakes will continue serving as Chairman of the Board and spiritual overseer of The Potter’s House, while Pastors Touré and Sarah step into their new roles leading day-to-day ministry.

A Vision Years in the Making

The leadership transition is the result of a long-term strategy to secure the future of The Potter’s House. Key milestones included:

  • 2022: The Roberts family relocated from Los Angeles to Dallas to support the ministry’s next phase.
  • 2022: The farewell of the Woman, Thou Art Loosed conference, continuing through Pastor Sarah’s Woman Evolve movement.
  • 2023: The Roberts were installed as assistant pastors, taking on greater leadership roles.

Pastor Touré, founder of ONE | A Potter’s House Church, and Pastor Sarah, a New York Times bestselling author, have emerged as leading voices of a new generation of faith leadership.

“We are committed to building a ministry that carries the heart of Bishop Jakes into a future that is both faithful and forward-thinking,” said Pastor Touré.

Jakes Expands His Global Reach

Outside the pulpit, Jakes plans to focus on economic empowerment initiatives through his T.D. Jakes Group and launch a new slate of shows with iHeartPodcasts, beginning with “My Next Chapter.”

He will also relaunch the Good Soil Forum in Dallas this June and curate a major economic summit on Martha’s Vineyard this August, strengthening his legacy of blending faith, business, and social impact.
