This Easter, 1-800-TruckWreck and a few familiar Chicago voices are stepping up to help families put food on the table.
On Friday, April 18, from 4 to 6 p.m., 1-800-TruckWreck, powered by Witherite Law Group, will team up with local radio personalities Joe Soto and Tone Kapone to give away 1,000 hams and food boxes at Salem Chicago’s House of Hope, located at 752 East 114th Street in Pullman. The event is free and open to the public. Meal boxes will be distributed one per vehicle, first come, first served.
Each box includes a ham, quarter chicken, vegetables, and other essentials to prepare a complete Easter dinner. The meals are valued at $100 and are meant to ease the burden of families facing food insecurity during the holiday season.
“We understand the challenges many families face, especially around holidays like Easter,” said Amy Witherite, owner of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck. “Our goal is to bring a little brightness to their holiday by providing a hearty meal that they can enjoy together. We are grateful to partner with Chicago noteworthy personalities Joe Soto and Kapone, along with Salem Chicago’s House of Hope, to make this Easter Feast possible.”
Food insecurity remains a significant issue in Chicago, affecting more than 500,000 people across the city’s 70+ neighborhoods. According to Feeding America, one in six children in Cook County lives with hunger. In Illinois overall, one in nine children faces food insecurity.
The Easter giveaway is one of several community-focused events led by 1-800-TruckWreck. The organization hopes this effort brings some relief and joy to local families during one of the most celebrated holidays of the year.
