CHICAGO (AP) — Richard M. Daley left his Chicago City Hall office for a weekend off for the first time in 22 years without being faced with the prospect of returning Monday. Daley’s family, including his wife, Maggie, accompanied him out of the 5th floor office on Friday to the applause of a crowd of city workers. He occasionally paused to hug people and wave. When he reached the ground floor there were more cheers from workers waiting in the lobby and on the sidewalk outside. After helping his wife into a minivan, Daley gave a wave and thumbs up before climbing into his own car. About an hour later, the mayor’s press office notified newsmen Daley has no public schedule for Saturday or Sunday. Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel will be sworn-in Monday.
