AURORA, Ill. — Police say 40 spools of copper wire worth $600,000 were stolen from a warehouse in the western Chicago suburb of Aurora. Employees at Houston Wire and Cable called police Monday morning when they discovered the missing wire. Police say it appears the thieves cut a hole through a loading bay door sometime over the weekend to enter the warehouse. Police responded to a burglary alarm at the business early Sunday but left the area when they found nothing amiss. Detectives believe police and the thieves may have been in the building at the same time, but the suspects activities were blocked from view. Authorities say the suspects used a forklift to move the spools of wire through an overhead door and onto a tractor trailer. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
