3 more not guilty pleas in Blagojevich case

Ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s former chief of staff has pleaded not guilty to scheming with his boss to sell President Barack Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat.

Ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s former chief of staff has pleaded not guilty to scheming with his boss to sell President Barack Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat. John Harris was the third Blagojevich co-defendant to plead not guilty Thursday. But Harris’s attorneys have made it clear he’s cooperating with federal prosecutors’ investigation of the Blagojevich administration. Attorney Terry Ekl says they’re working on a change of a plea agreement plan that will call for Harris to plead guilty later. Harris is one of six charged in a massive federal indictment accusing Blagojevich of the Senate seat scheme and a host of other alleged corruption. Blagojevich’s former chief fundraiser and another Illinois political insider pleaded not guilty earlier Thursday. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
