CHICAGO (AP) — Nearly 300 needy Chicago students will get $80 next week to shop for school supplies at Target stores.
Target and the Salvation Army are teaming up for the "Target School Spree." The store and not-for-profit agency are choosing 280 needy children for the July 26 shopping trip to buy school supplies, clothing and other items.
Each child will get an $80 Target gift card and will be paired with a volunteer chaperone to assist them.
Target has donated $1 million in gift cards to all 40 Salvation Army divisions nationwide.
