$25M for aid to Haiti

Cong. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., praised the U.S. Agency for International Development for giving an additional $25 million in emergency food aid to Haiti. The nation had be racked by a sharp surge in food costs that led to widespread protests in the poor Car

Lee, who serves as Vice-Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, was part of a Congressional Delegation that traveled to the Caribbean nation earlier this month and met with Haitian President Rene Preval as well as USAID and other humanitarian groups.

“I am pleased that USAID acted on our request for additional assistance to address the devastating impact the soaring food prices are having on the Haitian people,” Lee said in a written statement.
