Youth Environmental Thinkers Visit The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

President Kari K. Steele spoke with Youth Environmental Thinkers of the Nature Conservancy Indian Boundary Prairie Nature Camp.   President Steele discussed the mission of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, ways to protect the environment, MWRD STEM careers, MWRD internship opportunities, vision boards and more. The Nature Campers later visited the MWRD Calumet Water Reclamation Plant for a tour. Each camper, ages 14-18, received a MWRD goody bag with related community information.

“It is important to reach youth early to share the mission of MWRD. It is an honor to speak with youth interested in protecting the environment now, and for future generations. It is my goal to encourage conversations about MWRD and inspire a greater interest in environmental sciences, the fascinating work of treating wastewater and managing stormwater…for youth to consider MWRD internship opportunity and future careers with an emphasis on STEM,” MWRD President Steele said.
