Are you tired of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and looking to put a new twist on Turkey Day?
Food Network veteran, Cutthroat Kitchen winner and chef to the stars, Chef Robert Stewart stopped by the NewsOne Now set to share a few of his Caribbean-inspired dishes to bring a taste of the islands to your Thanksgiving dinner table.
Here is a list of dishes Chef Stew shared on Wednesday’s edition of NewsOne Now:
- Cajun fried turkey wings with mango salsa
- Turmeric-scented rice with kidney beans
- Mandarin oranges, bananas and kiwi
- Mixed greens, champagne vinaigrette, Craisins, dried apricots, matchstick Julienne Red onions and sunflower seeds
- Shrimp lollypop, which can mixed with mango relish
- Red snapper, bay scallops ceviche
Chef Stew said he enjoys “doing a five-star thing” when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner. He added, “I want food that’s bright and fluffy and airy and when you guys eat this, you got enough energy to go to somebody else’s house and eat there and fall asleep.”
Stewart detailed the ingredients for his Cajun fried turkey wings with mango salsa, saying the meat was prepared with Cajun seasoning and marinated overnight with fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, oregano, parsley). After sitting overnight, the turkey wings were deep-fried.
Chef Stew explained he still wanted to keep turkey in the meal, he “just didn’t want to give you the dry turkey breast with the gravy.”
