If you woke up thinking: I’m really in the mood for something bizarre, slightly obscene and salacious, then rest assured, Kanye West has got you.
The 39-year-old rapper debuted the visuals for his song, “Famous” at The Forum in Los Angeles Friday evening. As the first single off The Life of Pablo, West went big, picking the arena to live stream its premiere. In attendance was the Kardashian clan and his usual bunch of hipster “tastemakers”.
But back to this video…
In it lies Kanye and Kim in bed with a slew of celebrities lying naked next to them. These individuals include (from left to right): George Bush, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, and —because why not— Bill Cosby.
So essentially, a ton of people you’ve never wanted to think about being naked.
Nonetheless, the visuals and corresponding song is suppose to address the rawness of being famous. And the main visual was inspired by Vincent Desiderio’s “Sleep” painting.
“Maybe in some alternative universe me and George Bush could have been friends,” he told Vanity Fair about the video. “I could have been his O.J. Simpson black friend on the golf course. It’s not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]. It’s a comment on fame.”
Vanity Fair also note that the video was filmed over a period of three months and cycled through four different formats and several different collaborators until West felt he’d achieved the result he wanted. “[I say] a lot of lines other wives would not allow a husband to say,” West told the publication about the content of his music. “But my wife also puts up photos that other husbands wouldn’t let them put up. One of the keys to happiness in our marriage is we’re allowed to be ourselves. Our life is walking performance art.”
With that said, you can view the video exclusively on Tidal.
