After spending a good amount of 2016 touring to promote their book, The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love, DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good headed way down south to celebrate their 4-year-anniversary. The couple shared fun moments from their trip to Costa Rica on social media.
Watching monkeys climb trees, sitting on a golf course, and taking pictures on the beach— the pair seem to really be enjoying themselves.
“As a man…want to be happy?,” Franklin says in an Instagram post. “Find LOVE. Not only did I find LOVE but 4 years ago I married her and I’ve never been happier. Real success is finding LOVE and making the commitment to nurturing it everyday, this will bring you a peace beyond any paycheck or promotion. I love her and she loves me and if that’s all anyone ever said about me, it would be more than enough. Happy Anniversary my love @meagangood I love you.”
The couple got married in 2012 after being celibate and fasting together.
As reported by Essence, DeVon and Meagan began dating in May 2011. That September they decided to go on a Daniel-style fast, giving up meat, bread and sweets for 40 days.
“We wanted God to bring us closer together, as we believed we were moving toward getting engaged,” he said. They also began four months of pre-engagement couples counseling. They put their relationship counselor Bishop T.D. Jakes’s advice on choosing a spouse like you buy a house into action: Do your research and examine everything before making a decision.
“Counseling was a tremendous blessing to our marriage,” Meagan said. “It made us think and see each other’s baggage. What can you live with?”
