Duro Olowu is a Black designer known for his draped dresses and powerful prints with an African accent. A staple and legend in the industry, he is amongst the Byron Lars and the Stephen Burrows of the black fashion designer community.
It is no surprise that he was tapped by Brooke Garber Neidich, the daughter of well-known Chicago jeweler Sidney Garber. Brooke is currently designing jewelry for her father’s boutique, making a name for herself within the industry with her versatile pieces. The Olsen twins are customers. When her father died, she inherited and grew the business by opening a second shop in new York in 2014. Now, with the help of Duro, she’s expanding her global reach with the Nigerian-born designer.
“We really have the same taste.” ~ Duro Olowu on Brooke Neidich
The collection is anchored by lapis, a lightweight blue stone that Olowu describes as year round and luminous.
The collection is available at Neidich’s Madison Avenue store in New York City.
