Marie Holmes has been taking a beating on social media for spending nearly $10 million of her lottery winnings bailing out her alleged gang-affiliated and drug-dealing boyfriend out of jail — not once, but twice.

Holmes 26, is the North Carolina mother of four who won the $188 million lottery. Since she chose the option of getting her money in one lump sum, she was awarded $128 million, which came to $88 million after taxes. She bantered about in front of the cameras that she was going to get caught up on her tithes and set up college funds for her children. What Holmes ended up doing was something else entirely.

Holmes first spent $3 million back in March to bail out her fiancé, Lamarr McDow, who was in jail on heroin trafficking charges. He was only out for a few months when he got snatched up again by authorities for violating the terms of his release by having drugs and a firearm on him, according to WWAF. The station reported that McDow had over 8,000 bags of heroin and a gun on him.

Holmes was also arrested because she was reportedly in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

With McDow’s second arrest and Holmes spending another $6 million to bail out her husband-to-be after doling out $3 million about six months earlier, Holmes was pummeled by severe rebukes from social media participators who thinks she is wasting her time on a unreformed gang member and major drug dealer.

Holmes climbed onto the news station’s Facebook page to fire back at the legion of haters who criticized her decisions to stick by her man and unload a fortune to get him out of jail:

“What y’all need to be worried about is y’all money and not how I spend mine this is benefiting y’all how? And no he’s no drug dealer or user but who are y’all to judge anybody? I will definitely pray for y’all because it’s much need[ed] … they talked about Jesus so I’m not surprised y’all are talking about me but be blessed though.”

We suppose she has a point; it is her money and she is free to spend her own money as she sees fit. But it is troubling that with nearly $90 million in lotto winnings, her future husband would still find it necessary to engage in serious heroin dealing, if the media reports are true.
