ATLANTA – Not since the Ronald Reagan White House days – when Cabbage Patch Dolls was the craze, Reebok was the biggest shoe company in the world and New Kids on the Block was actually the hottest music group in America – that the city of Atlanta was infused with such electricity from a professional basketball standpoint.

Of course, that was the era of Dominique Wilkins’ aerial acrobatics that captured the imagination of a generation of fans in the Capitol of the New South in the 1980s. Those days of anticipation, excitement and fervor returned – and then some – in the 2015 incarnation of the Atlanta Hawks as they drove towards a record-breaking season that made Phillips Arena and downtown Atlanta thunder on a nightly basis.

Mayor Kasim Reed is hosting Hawks Day Celebration at Atlanta City Hall that will illuminate a season like no other.  Reed and city officials will host an appreciation rally at City Hall in recognition of the Atlanta  Hawks’ record-breaking and historic 2014-2015 season.

Hawks CEO Steve Koonin, Coach Mike Budenholzer, Hawks players and fans will join the Mayor to celebrate a season in which the Hawks achieved a record-breaking 60-22 regular season record, won the Southeast Division title, and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history.
