DECATUR, Ga. — An Atlanta-area high school teacher who was en route to supervise a high school prom was killed in a weekend crash that also hospitalized her daughter as well as two teens who were on their way to the same prom.

Leah O’Brien, 33, was reportedly trying to make an eastbound turn from Ridley Circle onto Scott Boulevard when her car collided with a car headed west on Scott Blvdm, according to Decatur police spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Ross

The two teenagers were passengers in the westbound vehicle, 11 Alive, reported, and were on their way to the Lakeside High School prom at the time of the crash. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. O’Brien’s 8-year-old daughter was in critical but stable condition, Ross said.

DeKalb County schools spokesman Quinn Hudson said O’Brien was a teacher at Lakeside High School. According to an online profile, O’Brien taught family and consumer sciences and also served as a dance team sponsor.
