2015 fall shows to get EXCITED about, or not?

black couple watching tvWith the return of such popular shows as Empire, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder, it leaves us asking which ones are you most excited about, and which not so much?

Here’s a list of a few shows that will be returning to prime time television in September. Which ones would you choose or lose?

Choose: “Empire”

It’s safe to say that anyone who’s seen the first season will eagerly tune in to the second. With Luscious Lyon (Terrence Howard) in jail along with the promise of a slew of guest star appearances, Empire is sure be a repeat hit for fans.

Lose: “America’s Next Top Model”

After 22 cycles, it’s safe to say that many feel America’s Next Top Model has run its course. Granted, a slew of models owe their success to starring on the show; however, as time goes on, the popularity has fizzled. The frequent change of judges, random model tasks, and cat fights are quite frankly, played out. It is time that Tyra retire the show just as she did her Victoria Secret Wings.

Choose: “American Horror Story: Hotel”

Surprising as it seems, the last season flopped, with few people remaining committed to the series’ entirety. However, The American Horror Story series continues to deliver with a star-studded cast coupled with epic writing. Keeping that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see whether this upcoming season again rekindles its fame with fans.

Lose: “How to Get Away With Murder”

Granted, the show appears right after the other ShondaLand shows that have taken over Thursday nights on ABC. Chances are people will stay on to watch it, but the messiness of its first season might turn off some viewers. Let’s hope that director Shonda Rhimes can help us learn to love the characters more as well. After all, Viola Davis can’t pull all the weight, right?

Choose: “Black-ish”

It might be one of the most highly underrated comedies on prime time television, but Black-ish is a downright funny, entertaining, and honest show. The family’s patriarch Anthony Anderson and doctor wife Tracee Ellis Ross, along with their four kids, introduce viewers to a new perspective with regard to the 2015 suburban family. It is recent television’s way of reviving themes from some of our most beloved comedic shows that present an accurate portrayal of black family life.

On the fence: “Scandal”

Simply put, Scandal is on the fence. Since it began, the show took on a life of its own, gathering droves of fans and solidifying Shonda Rhimes‘ status as essentially the “Queen of Prime Time Television”. While Olivia Pope has become nothing short of a household name, her once fascinatingly steamy relationship with Fitz is losing its luster. Blame that on the lovable Jake, which many root for to gain Olivia’s affection. The plot lines are becoming unrealistic and confusing in many ways. It’s also going to be imperative that writers drop the B613 subplot and generate a new, more exciting focus.
