The former “Moesha” actress and star of its spinoff “The Parkers” says she got pregnant around the age of 18 and decided not to keep the baby. Vaughn admits she felt pressured into having an abortion because she feared becoming a teen mom would derail her blossoming television career.
“I had an unwanted pregnancy. I had just started my TV show. I knew that in black Hollywood a girl having a baby, they’d get rid of you,” Vaughn, 36, said on the show. “I had to do something about it. I had to make a decision to get rid of a child for my career.
“I knew from the jump if I let any of them know what was going on, they would have cancelled my show… I’ve beat myself up for so long about it.”
Vaughn is now mother to two children aged five and 11.
