They are “training” their bodies with corsets in order to get that hourglass look. In short, it’s called “waist training.”
But maybe wearing Victorian-styled corsets aren’t such a good idea after all.
Chyna and Kardashian posted photos of themselves on Instagram — showing off this new fad. And the trend already has been set. The purpose of the corset is to wear it a few sizes too small while the body takes on its shape.
Many of these ladies’ fans are flocking to buy the garments to train their waist, but the ladies aren’t telling fans about the potential dangers of wearing these training corsets.
Medical experts revealed wearing the corset for too long — which can be a few hours to 12 hours — can result in damaged skin and damaged internal organs.
Bariatric physician Jyotindra Shah, M.D., in Westchester, N.Y., says[…]“Putting this corset tight on the body could bruise your skin. People might put it so tight that the liver, spleen and kidneys could get bruised.
[The corset] could also restrict oxygenation, which is an important part of life,” Shah continued. “Oxygen helps the metabolism. It helps the functions of each and every organ of the body. Restricting oxygenation of the body could do long-term damage to your metabolism and health, and you don’t want that.”
“There is no magic bullet to losing weight,” concluded Shah. “I would not do this to my patients.”
