Months after his 24 count conviction for public corruption, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds today to serve 28 years in federal prison.

In his statement to the judge Kwame said: “I want the city to heal,” he said. “I want the city to prosper. I want the city to be great in the end.
