Not many Bulls fans were thrilled with the team picking up reserve Nate Robinson last summer. Perhaps they were still lamenting the break up of the old ‘Bench Mob’ or were just really big fans of John Lucas III. But whatever the case, Nate Robinson’s penchant for not making the best decisions on the court somewhat overshadowed his actual ability as a basketball player. But during the 2012-13 season, Robinson became a star in Chicago due to his fearlessness on the court and his ability to take over games and single handedly deliver wins.
His Game 4 performance against the Brooklyn Nets in the playoffs – which helped propel the Bulls to a triple-overtime victory – will go down in team history and also earn him a sizeable increase on his last year salary of $1.1 million which, for a while, was non-guaranteed. The Bulls, already in a precarious cap situation, most likely won’t be able to retain Robinson’s services for next season and on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Robinson pretty much shot down any chances of a possible return while, ironically enough, sitting in an airport terminal.
“I’m a miss the [expletive] outta the chi …gotta thank all the Chicago Bulls fans, thanks for the best year ever!!! #holdat”
Many of the comments left on the photo were overwhelmingly positive and supportive and it’s safe to say that Robinson may not ever have to pay for a meal whenever he’s back in Chicago.
