Dear Chat Daddy,
I’m a 45-year-old successful and well-educated woman who for one reason or another couldn’t seem to find a decent man. I’ve been on the dating scene for the past five years and have come across men in my age range, but none of them tickled my fancy due to ego clashes and different life directions. I recently went out dancing and met a 26-year-old man who is witty, fun loving and intelligent with a great career and aspirations for himself. We’ve been dating for the past six months now and just last weekend, I introduced him to my close girlfriends. All of them have been ripping my relationship and me because he is younger than I am. But Chat Daddy, while these are my closest friends, I am having the time of my life and am starting to fall in love with him. I really love my friends, but I am very happy. What should I do?
-Inner City Cougar On The Loose
Dear Inner City Cougar On The Loose,
Well, my dear. It seems to me that your happiness and best interests are much more important than what your girlfriends seem to think. Bottom line, they are not walking in your shoes and do not live your life. You are not obligated to please anyone but yourself, so later for all of the negativity surrounding this issue. While it is understandable that you love your friends and seem to cherish their advice, sometimes it is best to keep things that you hold very dear to your heart to yourself. Are your friends in relationships or are they single? Sounds like some of them may be jealous of you. If this man is all you want and need, sweetheart, by all means, live and be happy but just make sure he is man enough for you. If there is a constant smile on your face and in your heart, no one else matters. Be encouraged.
