LOCKPORT, Ill. — A suburban Chicago high school is on lockdown after a device was found in a hallway that may have contained toxic substances. A statement from school district officials says a plastic bottle was used to release black smoke and possible chemicals into the area as students were arriving at Lockport Township High School’s Central Campus. School officials say nine students and one staff member are being treated for possible exposure to their eyes and skin to a toxic substance. The school is on lockdown while police and fire department officials conduct a search of the building. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
