District 4 tournament play is set to get underway for the Jackie Robinson West Little League.

The Jackie Robinson West Senior League (15-16 year-old) all-star team will open play Saturday when they take on the Roseland Little League Saturday beginning at 5 p.m., at Brooks High School. The Jackie Robinson West Seniors are the defending District 4 champions and return seven players from that team that finished second in the Section 3 tournament last season. Also, the Jackie Robinson West Little League (11 and 12 years old) will also begin defense of last season’s District 4 title when they take on South Side American all-stars in a 7 p.m., start Saturday at Jackie Robinson Park. The Jackie Robinson Little League team finished third in the state last season. Also in the Jackie Robinson West Little League, Instructional League all-star game for seven and eight year olds will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. “This is a really exciting time of year for us,” Jackie Robinson West Little League president William Haley said. “Last year our teams all won district titles. We’re hoping to repeat that once again this year.” ______ Copyright 2008 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
